Moving around excel spreadsheet with Ctrl, Shift and Arrow Keys

Imagine you are working on a huge excel worksheets where you need to move around very often. Or you need to select a columns and rows of data, copy and paste the formula or values. I am sure that you experience these quite often and most of the users use their mouse and wasting time scrolling vertically and horizontally.

Moving around excel spreadsheet can be much easier if you know the Excel shortcut keys. It save you lots of time finding where is the end of the row or navigate to the first cell (A1). You’ll learn how to move the first or last cell of a contiguous data block without scrolling. Just remember these 2 shortcuts keys:

1. Ctrl-Arrow : Move to the first/last data cell in the arrow direction

Example:

  • Ctrl + Up:  Move up to the first data cell
  • Ctrl + Down:  Move down to the last data cell
  • Ctrl + Left:  Move Left to the first data cell
  • Ctrl + Right:  Move Right to the last data cell

2. Ctrl-Shift-Arrow : Selects the cells between the current cell and the first/last data cell
